Trade5 is a trading brand operated by Semantic Fund Managers (Pty) Ltd, a South African Financial Services Provider authorised and regulated by the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) under FSP No. 47725.

Semantic Fund Managers provides intermediary services in relation to financial products within the scope of its regulatory authorisation.

Our objective is to provide clients with access to modern trading technology and financial markets through a structured and transparent intermediary model, supported by appropriate client onboarding, risk management, regulatory controls and ongoing monitoring.

Our role

Semantic Fund Managers acts as an intermediary.

Semantic does not represent itself as the principal or issuer of the CFD products solely as a consequence of providing intermediary services.

Where a client accesses CFD products through Trade5, the relevant contractual documentation will identify the applicable principal and counterparty.

Principal and liquidity arrangements

Trade5 works with external financial services and liquidity providers to facilitate access to financial markets.

CBCX is a key service provider within the Trade5 operating model.

The CBCX group includes regulated entities in South Africa and Mauritius. CBCX Markets (Pty) Ltd is authorised and regulated by the FSCA as FSP No. 49700, while CBCX Markets Global Limited is authorised and regulated by the Mauritius Financial Services Commission under Licence No. GB24202880.

The exact entity providing the relevant service and acting as principal or counterparty will depend on the applicable client agreement, product and jurisdiction.

We apply client onboarding and regulatory controls designed to ensure that clients are appropriately identified, assessed and provided with relevant information before accessing leveraged financial products.

Depending on the client's circumstances, onboarding may include:

  • AML/CFT screening
  • Sanctions screening
  • PEP screening
  • Client classification
  • Financial circumstances assessment
  • Trading experience and knowledge assessment
  • Source of funds and source of wealth checks
  • Risk disclosures
  • Acceptance of contractual documentation

No client is permitted to commence trading until the applicable onboarding and approval requirements have been completed.
